4. Upload Your Product Feed

This section describes the steps you need to follow in order to upload your product feed, either from your computer or from a server dropbox.

From Your Computer

Yahoo Ad Tech now provides you the ability to directly upload a one-time product feed from your computer rather than a web server (FTP or HTTP server) dropbox. This is ideal for advertisers who simply need to perform a lightweight, quick, one-time feed upload.

Example Use Cases

  • Enables Yahoo Native Sales teams to upload sample files to check feed format and ads preview quickly.

  • Allows mid-market advertisers to upload small and stable feeds without the extra effort of setting up a dropbox.

  • Enables large field advertisers to upload one-time feeds during seasonal times, like Mother’s or Father’s Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas.

How To Upload a Feed From Your Computer

Follow these steps to upload your product feed into Native from your computer:

  1. Click the New Feed button on the Product feeds tab of the Product catalog page.

These 2 options now appear: Upload from URL or Upload from computer.

If you select Upload from URL, you can set up a scheduled feed or one-time feed upload from a web location, i.e., an FTP, FTPS, HTTP, or HTTPS address. You can then set an hourly, daily, or weekly upload schedule.

  1. Click the Upload from computer button.

  2. In the Product feel panel, drag and drop your CSV, TSV, TXT, XML, or RSS file into the panel.

If your file size is larger than 100MB, you’ll need to set up a scheduled feed to upload your products.

  1. Click Upload.

The system will check your file format and size, and if necessary, ensure there are no special characters in the file name. If the file format and size pass the initial check, the system will immediately upload the products and display the status of the upload. The upload time in most cases should not exceed 1 minute. If it takes longer, you’ll be advised to check back later while the system continues to process your feed.

  1. A success message now appears.

On the Success panel you’ll also see a summary of the number of files added, updated or rejected. You can click the Download report link to view a complete report of your product feed files. You can also click the Go to update history button for more information.

From an FTP or HTTP Server

If you are unable to provide a file-embedded-url or FTP location for feed submission, your Native Ad Platform account team can create an account on our Yahoo-branded FTP solution.

If you’re using the Yahoo-branded FTP solution, all dropbox.yahoo.com and asia-dropbox.yahoo.com connections require the use of FTPS (FTP over TLS) for security reasons. This means all client file transfers will require an explicit FTPS connection (rather than an implicit FTPS connection). For more detailed information and FAQs, you can download a pdf file download the instructions here. Reach out to your account team if you have other questions.

How To Upload from an FTP or HTTP Server

Follow these steps to upload your product feed into Native using an FTP Feed URL:

  1. Click the New Feed button on the Product feeds tab of the Product catalog page.

  1. Enter the FTP Feed URL (file-embedded-url or FTP location), Filenames, and if required, the User name and password to access the location.

We accept the file-embedded urls as well, and the FTP restriction only applies to Yahoo dropbox accounts. (You can still connect via FTP to a non-dropbox.yahoo.com and asia-dropbox.yahoo.com ftp location.)

  1. Select the feed processing frequency. The frequency options include daily, weekly, and one-time only.

  1. In the Product Catalog > Product Feeds tab, click a scheduled feed (not a one-time feed).

Below the Set time to change feed option, you’ll see the Refresh feed now link.
